A Story I Wrote
A) Yes, I'm putting it in my Nano. One of my characters will tell it.
B) Yes, it's based on a true story, like all my short stories are.
C) Yes, that is code. Bonus points if you really understand what the story is about.
Once upon a time, there was a boy named Whyskies. He was in love with a girl named Twoear. They dated, but she never seemed to care about him the same as he did for her, she always seemed distant, pulling away when he leaned in to kiss her, avoiding his touch.
It was worth it, though, if only for the moments when she was too weak to give in, when he was able to show her who was in charge of the relationship.
A year later, he moved far away, but he never lost touch with Twoear. Whyskies called her all the time, telling her what would happen when they got together again. How they would get married, have kids, and they would have everything they could possibly dream of.
There was one deal breaker though. She had a self-destructive habit. He told her to quit, if she couldn’t quit for herself, then she should quit for him. He would only love her as long as she wasn’t harming herself. He would only be her friend as long as she wasn’t self-destructive.
One day, she was hesitant on the phone. He knew she had something to say. He told her just to come right out and tell him, none of the beating around the bush stunt she usually pulled.
So, she did. She was dating a girl named Hat. A wonderful girl named Hat, who wore the most breathtaking headgear.
He felt that the whole world fell around his ears at that moment. Everything made sense now. She was a liar. She had lied about how she felt about him. Twoear had never been attracted to him. Maybe she had liked him as a friend, but there was never the possibility of anything more.
Whyskies couldn’t take it anymore. He hung up on her. She wasn’t worth anything, as far as he was concerned. The boy yelled at the skies, asking why he had to love the one girl he couldn’t have. He knew for sure that Twoear was his soul mate. She was his, but he wasn’t hers, and never would be.
For weeks, he ignored her calls and concerned emails. She tried to tell him nothing had changed, that they could still be friends, but he knew he couldn’t live with that. Whyskies could never ‘just be friends’ with Twoear. Not when he loved her with all his heart and soul.
Gradually, she called less and less, until one day; he realized he hadn’t heard from her in several months.
He felt guilty and called her up. He asked politely about Hat, knowing that after such a long time, she had come to her senses and realized her mistakes.
She hadn’t. Hat was still a wonderful girl who wore the most breathtaking headgear.
It was the truth then. She really wouldn’t ever love him the way he loved her. He couldn’t be friends with a liar.
Twoear cried the whole day. She really loved Whyskies, though not the way that he loved her. She loved him as a friend she couldn’t bare to lose. For hours, she wondered if breaking up with Hat would make everything okay again. But she couldn’t do that, she loved Hat with all of her heart, all of her soul. She couldn’t choose between the two, it wouldn’t be fair.
She was angry with him. What right did he have to make her feel like nothing she did was good enough for him, that she wasn’t allowed to be happy if she wasn’t with him?
The next day, she went right on with her life. Whyskies didn’t matter anymore. If he was trying to make her chose, he wasn’t a very good friend. She couldn’t control what he thought anymore than he could control her.
She was still mad at him, for all that he had said, but none of it really mattered. All that was important in the end was that she was happy.

I know, does that count? Now you owe me five dollars, Rooinator.
But, um, isn't so knowledge about what's going on between you and "Whyskies" required to understand the code?
